Podcast Interview Preparation

This is the guide for guests who will soon be appearing on the Pints With Jack podcast.

Interview Questions

You will be sent a Google Doc in advance with some proposed questions. Please feel free to adjust/add/remove question as you see fit, as well as make any notes in green if you think you’d find them helpful.

Cover Graphics

Please send us a photo of yourself (preferably including your torso) for the episode cover graphic.

The Recording

The interview will be conducted on Riverside.fm, but if there are problems with this, we can fall back to Skype or Zoom. You can use Riverside.fm on your desktop (you must use the Google Chrome browser), but there is also a mobile application if you need to use it (this video outlines the experience).

We’ll be able to see each other during the interview, but only the audio will be published:

It is strongly recommended to use headphones. If you do so, please make sure that the volume isn’t so loud that it is picked up by your microphone.

The Toast

We toast on every episode, so if you wish, please grab a beverage. Beer, spirits, wine, coffee, tea, and water are all acceptable!

During the interview

To minimize the amount of noise picked up by the microphone:

  • Please turn off your phone and your computer’s notifications.
  • Avoid using a squeaky chair, clicking the mouse
  • Tapping the desk or moving objects around on top of it.

We send the audio to our editor, so if you want something edited, please just say, or if you want to restart a section, please just go ahead.

Sign-Off

We wrap up each episode with a standard sign-off, from The Last Battle. The host will say:

“Join us next time when we’ll be going further up…”.

Host

Please respond by saying:

“…and further in!”

Guest

We will each then say “Cheers!”

After the interview…

We’d be grateful if you could record a “Drop In” for us:

“Hi, this is <name> author of <book/podcast/website>… you’re listening to Pints With Jack
